Carpet tiles can have pieces, power-ups, or other elements (cookies, donuts, piggy banks) on them. You need to make a match with a piece sitting on carpet to keep laying that carpet further. That will spread it to other free tiles.

Power-ups also lay carpets on free tiles. Paper Planes transport carpets to a random tile on the field.
