Artifacts are buried on the field under one or two layers of plants. Make matches and explode power-ups to get rid of the plants and clear the Artifacts they cover. Once an Artifact is cleaned off, it will activate and remove game pieces or one layer of obstacles from several random tiles.

IMPORTANT: if you don't remove plants, they spread across the field, blocking one piece with every move you make and then covering it with a second layer.
