One way to use Duplicate cards you get in the Collection, is to trade them in for chests with rewards.

Each chest has a value expressed in duplicate card stars. When you unlock a reward chest, the amount of stars it costs gets subtracted — as well as the duplicate cards themselves.

Instead of buying reward chests, you can also keep your duplicate cards to later exchange them with your in-game friends.
